Canadian Players in NBA

Canadians are never left behind in the sport basketball. Just like any other basketball player, Canadians also want to play professional basketball in the NBA.

Some of the notable Canadian players in NBA that had been produced were:

Steve Nash currently playing for Phoenix Suns

Steve Nash is born in South Africa and he is a British but grew up in Canada. He was a player since high-school and continued his career up to the National Basketball Association under the team Phoenix Suns. He was picked in 1996 by team Phoenix on the NBA draft. He plays as a point guard.

When the fans of Phoenix knew about him as being picked as one of the new members plenty doubted him but he proved his worth. He ranked 13th in the league for three-point field-goal percentage during his second season as a player of Phoenix.

Jamaal Magloire playing for Miami Heat

Jamaal Magloire was drafted by Charlotte Hornets in the 2000 NBA Draft. He played well and lead the Eastern All-Stars with 19 points along with 8 rebounds in 21 minutes of action. He officially started playing for Miami Heat on August 30, 2008 and he was able to show how great he is as a center.

Matt Bonner playing for San Antonio Spurs

Matt Bonner signed with the Raptors in 2004-05 NBA season, he was named “Red Rocket” during that season because of his red hair at that time.

He was traded with Eric Williams on June 21, 2006 and was pick in the 2006 NBA Draft to the San Antonio Spurs. In Spurs he played in 56 games averaging 4.9 points per game in the 2006-07 season.

Andy Rautins playing for New York Knicks

Andy Rautins played for Syracuse Orange and Canadian Men’s National Team. The New York Knicks drafted Andy Rautins, the 38th pick, to the team at the 2010 NBA Draft.

In August 12, 2010 he signed a two-year conract with the New York Knicks. His debut game was in November 09, 2010 vs. The Milwaukee Bucks.

Samuel Dalembert playing for Sacramento Kings

Samuel Dalembert played college basketball at Seton Hall University in New Jersey. He was first drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers. However, after 8 seasons with them, he was traded to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Andres Nocioni and Spences Haws during the 2010 offseason.

He’s not the best center in the league, but he sure can do the rebounds and a good shot blocker.

Joel Anthony playing for Miami Heat

Joel Anthony was drafted in the year 2007. Until now, Joel Anthony is still with the Miami Heat, and he just recently re-signed a contract with them. Last season, he made 16 starts. He tied for the 15th place in the league with 109 blocked shots and 18th in the NBA in blocked shots per game. Isn’t that cool?

In the NBA, not all the players are American. Some of them are from different countries; Canada, Argentina, Brzail,Spain, etc. Yet, it is not easy to be where they are right now, of course, it takes a lot of practice and courage. You just need to step up, you know?
