Slovenian Basketball Player Sasha Vujacic

Aleksandar Vujacic also known as Sasha Vujacic is a professional slovenian basketball player.
He currently plays with the New Jersey Nets but his career is highlighted by his presence with the Los Angeles Lakers. Sasha was born on March 8, 1984 on Maribor, Socialist Republic of Slovenia, SFR Yugoslavia.

He is listed as 6-foot 7-inches tall who plays the shooting guard position but sometimes also plays the point guard.

Vujacic started his professional basketball career at the age of 16 as he plays in Italy with the Snaidero Udine. Vaso Vujacic who is his father is a professional Serbian basketball coach. He won silver medal with the Junior national team of Slovenia at the 2002 European Junior Championship.

He was drafted in the NBA by the Los Angeles Lakers as the 27th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. In his first season as a Laker, he averaged 2.9 points per game and had a 94.7% free throw percentage.

In his 2005-2006 season with the Lakers, he averaged 3.9 ppg, and also a highlight in his career where he made a go-ahead 3 point shot in the overtime game against the Utah jazz which gave them a win for the season. His third season with the Lakers on 2006-2007 season, he averaged 4.3 ppg and also recorded his career-high 22 points in a game against the Denver Nuggets that season.

For the 4th season in Los Angeles, his playing time goes up, and also his production. He averaged 8.8 points per game and set a Los Angeles Lakers’ best single-season record for his three-point field goal percentage of .437 that season. In 2008-2009 seasonn, Vujacic averaged 5.8 ppg and played 80 games in the season.

His last complete season as a Laker was on 2009-2010 NBA season, his minutes went down and so was his statistics and contribution. In December 15 of 2010, in the 2010-2011 season, Vujacic was involved in a three-team trade by the New Jersey Nets, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers. He was moved on the New Jersey Nets, and on his debut, he played 27 minutes which he had 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
