Famous Basketball Players

There are so many famous basketball players but the most famous superstar is Michael Jordan.

Not just because virtually everyone in the world has heard about him but because he's the player that so many guys are trying hard to be like. Grant Hill put it very nice in a few words.

He said if there's the word "basketball" in the Webster's Dictionary there's gotta be a picture of Michael Jordan.

But hey, there're so many basketball legends who defined the game and won even more games than Michael. It depends on the time. First, there was Mr. Basketball or George Mikan.

George was THE Pioneer of the game. He played in the 40s and 50s and was the first dominant center.

Later in the 50s and 60s it was Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain time. Wilt set so many records like grabbing 55 rebounds in a single game and scoring 100 points, also, in one game. Bill was the ultimate force in defensive terms. He won 11 NBA titles in 13 years.

In the 60s, players like Elgin Baylor, John Havlicek, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Bob Pettit and Sam Jones.

In the 70s, players like Walt Frazier, George Gervin, Kareem Abdul Jabbar (he was very popular in the 80s too), Julius Erving, Bill Walton, Willis Reed, Earl Monroe and Pete Maravich.

In the 80s, players like Isiah Thomas, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, Dominique Wilkins, Moses Malone, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

In the 90s, players like John Stockton, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, Clyde Drexler, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, Chris Webber, Charles Barkley, Dennis Rodman and Patrick Ewing.

Right now, famous basketball players are Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Tony Parker, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, Ben Wallace, Jason Kidd, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Richardson, Amare Stoudemire, Dwayne Wade, Chauncey Billups and many others to list here.
