BogdanTanjević (2004- 2010)

BogdanTanjević was born on February 13, 1947 in Pljevlja, Montenegro,SFR Yugoslavia. He was the former basketball coach of FenerbahçeÜlker from 2007 to 2010.

The managed the Turkish national basketball team until Feb 2,2011 when OrhunEne was proclaimed the new head coach of the national team.

This internationally known coach started his professional coaching career way back in 1971 with BosnaSaravejo. He then coached Juvecaserta Basket, Pallacanestro Trieste, Olimpia Milano, CSP Limoges, KK Buducnost, Asvel Villeurbanne and Virtus Bologna respectively. He started his coaching career in Turkey in 2007 when he managed Fenerbahçe.

He was the coach of the said team until he became ill in 2010 with colon cancer and needs to be treated. He led almost every team he coached to victory: Bosna Sarajevo became the1977-78 and 1979-80 Yugoslav National Champions and winners in 1979 Euroleague; Olimpia Milano was the 1995-96 Italian National Champions and the 1996 Italian National Cup; KK Buducnost were winners in 2000-01 Yugoslav National Championship and 2001 Yugoslav National Cup; Asvel Villeurbanne were champions in 2001-02 French National Championship; and FenerbahçeÜlker won the trophy in 2007-08 and 2009-10 Turkish Basketball League and champions in 2010 Turkish National Cup.

He was chosen as coach of different national teams in more than 1 occasion. He was the assistant coach of Yugoslavia national basketball team in 1977-81 Yugoslavia and became their head coach later in 1981 wherein they gained the gold medal in 1974 European Junior Championship and silver in 1981 EuroBasket; he was appointed as head coach of Italy in 1997 to 2000 where Tanjević led Italy to victory in 1999 EuroBasket; and the head coach of Turkish National Team from 2004 to 2010.

He was not able to coach the Turkish team well in the 2010 FIBA World Championships due to his illness but he entrusted the team to his assistant coach, OrhunEne. The team won the silver medal in the said competition.

Orhun Ene(2011)

Orhun Ene is the current head coach of the Turkey National Basketball Team. He will manage the team until 2014 according to the head of TBF, TurgayDemirel.

He was born on February 1, 1967 in Erzurum, Turkey and was married to ZeynepgülEne who is also a professional basketball player. The formally started his professional basketball career in 1985 as Point Guard for Eczacibasi until 1989. He transferred to Pasabahce in season 1989-1990 of the TBL. Ene played for the said team until the end of season 1991-1992 and then he briefly played for Fenerbahce in season 1992-1993. He was hired by Ulkerspor in 1993.

He played for them until 1997. He then moved to Galatsaray where he played until season 2000-20001. ITU was the last team he played for before he retired as professional basketball player. He played for them in two seasons: 2001-02 and 2002- 03. He was named as the most successful Point Guard of the Era.

Because of his talent in basketball, Ene played in the Turkish National Team from 1991 to 1993and in 1996 to 2001. He even had a chance to be the captain of the national team. This star player retired in 2003. He then started his coaching career after his retirement.

Ene was the Assistant coach of the Turkish National Team and took over the team since Bogdan Tanjevic, the head coach, has been diagnosed with colon cancer and needs to be treated early last year.

Ene led the Turkish National Team placed second in the 2010 FIBA World Championship- the highest they placed so far. Before claiming the position as head coach, he was the coach of the Turkish team Bandirma Banvitspor who did well surprisingly under his leadership.
