Tim Duncan

One of the basketball players of San Antonio Spurs of NBA (National Basketball Association) is Timothy Theodore Duncan.

He was born on April 25, 1976 in Christiansted U.S. Virgin Islands. Duncan was a swimmer in his youth and he has always imagined himself as a professional swimmer. Fate struck him and turned his way from swimming to the Basketball. Tim had a bright career in his professional background. He has been awarded with gold and bronze medals more than once.

He has two sisters, Cheryl and Tricia. Both are also blessed with sports qualities. Cheryl has been into swimming and has also participated in 1988 Olympics. Then, Tim Duncan’s brother-in-law has helped him to play basketball and take this sport in his life as an activity.

It eventually became a hobby and then a profession for Tim Duncan. Tim had hard luck twice in his life. Once Hurricane Hugo struck their living place and filled his swimming pool with the debris. Then he had to take his practice sessions in the ocean. Duncan was always scared of the sharks in the ocean and he started missing the practice sessions because of his fear.

Even his mother always encourage him to pursue swimming but he has not fulfilled his Mum’s wish. Then,it came into knowledge that his mother suffered from the breast cancer and his mother left Duncan’s world a day before his 14th birthday.

Tim is active in fundraising and social activities now. Often her sister governs his foundation in his absence.His Foundation conducts the programs about general health awareness. They also fund education and youth sports across different parts of country. The fundraising of his foundation is usually for the patients of prostate and breast cancer. The source of inspiration for the Tim Duncan has always been his ever loving mother.

He was declared ACC Player of the Year twice in the year 1996 and 1997 as well. Then, he has been honored with the John Wooden Award in 1997 and Naismith College Player of the Year and USBWA College Player of the Year in the same year. In 1998, he has received the awards and titles; NBA All-Rookie First Team, All-Defensive Second Team and NBA Rookie of the Year.

In 1999, he won All-Defensive First Team, NBA Championship and NBA Finals MVP. He was again awarded with the NBA All-Star in the year 2000. Even from 2000 to 2011, he remained the honor of NBA All-Star with him. Similarly, from the year 1999 to 2003, then in 2005 and then in 2009-10, he was declared with the title of All-Defensive First Team.

In his career, Tim Duncan played tremendously and has maintained shining and remarkable status in his professional life.

It was three times in Tim Duncan’s life when he has received gold medals and two times bronze medal. In summer Universiade in 1995, he won gold medal for the first time in his career. Then, in the FIBA Americas Championship in the year 1999 and 2003; he got gold medal. In 1994, at Goodwill Games, he ha won a bronze medal and another bronze medal was awarded to him on Olympic Games in 2004 at Athens.
Tim Duncan often remains the choice of coach. He is a player who understands each and every move of player in game. He knows himself as a player very well and control the falling track of his team in the games. A bright player and a kind human being is no doubt a name of Timothy Theodore Duncan in the World of Basketball.
