Serge Ibaka Bio

Sergeballu Ibaka is a professional basketball player of Congolese. He is a power forward positioned player and is known because of his proficiency in playing.

He is born to a Congo family and is also a son of athletes. He has the sports in his genes. Serge Ibaka parents are basketball players and they have inherited their interest to their progeny. Serge Ibaka is the result of the toil of his father and mother.

He has 17 siblings out of which he is the 3rd youngest.Serge Ibaka is born on September 18, 1989 in Brazzaville at the Republic of Congo. Nowadays, Ibaka is playing with the Oklahoma City Thunders. In 2008, Serge Ibaka was selected by the Seattle Supersonics in the 2008 NBA Draft. Ibaka was selected as the 24th overall pick by the NBA. It is an amazing fact to know that Ibaka is out of those players who do not know to speak English properly.

Ibaka’s father used to play for the Congolese National Team at the Republic of Congo. His mother has also played basketball for the Democratic Republic of Congo. Tragically, when it was Second Congo War where his father was imprisoned, Ibaka escaped from there to play basketball.

Unfortunately his mother has also died at an earlier stage of his life. He was frustrated and always yearns to rush away somewhere. From there he has found basketball playing a better solution to bring out his frustrations.

Before his selection for the National Basketball Association, he has played with the ACB league in Spain. He has signed the contract of three years with the condition that he will leave to play for NBA at any time when he will be offered.

While playing for them, he has averaged 7.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and one block in total 16 minutes. It was a time when he was hardly able to speak in English and now he is proficient in speaking Lingala, French, Spanish and English.

In 2007-08, he has played with the CB L’ Hospitalet. Then from 2008-2009, he has represented Ricoh Manresa in the basketball. Then, his luck struck Oklahoma City Thunder and he is still playing for them in the National Basketball Association (NBA). When, there were initial times of Ibaka at NBA, he has averaged 6.3 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game and 1.3 blocks per game in 18.1 minutes per game.

When it was January 6, 2011; Serge Ibaka has been selected to show his performance in the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Nowadays, he is preparing himself to play for that contest and is practicing more and more.

He is a hard working player who is always in a hunt to present improvement in his performances. His way of playing is always appreciated by his fans and the coach as well. In the history, Serge Ibaka is the only player who is playing for the National basketball Association (NBA) from the Republic of Congo.

Serge Ibaka is an energetic athlete. His leaping abilities have always benefited him while playing and he is best at playing shots in the basketball. Serge Ibaka’s good height has always given a positive edge to him in playing against the opponents.
