Rudy Gay

A Baltimore born player of basketball, Rudy Carlton Gay plays for Memphis Grizzlies.

He was selected by the American Basketball Association (NBA). Rudy Carlton Gay was born on August 17, 1986 in Baltimore, Maryland. Rudy Gay has always been an extremely active player in the professional field of basketball and has always rendered his services proficiently in the games.

Rudy Gay has won a gold medal in his career when FIBA World Championship 2010 was held at Turkey. Currently he has experience of four years of playing with National Basketball Association (NBA).

He was born in the home of Rudy Sr. and Rae Gay. He has four siblings in which he has only one brother.He started playing basketball just as a pass time and soon it became his interest. At the age of twelve years, Rudy Gay has opted playing basketball as a pastime. Then, after two years, he was known at the National level because of basketball.

Initially, Rudy Gay has joined AAU Basketball league games and also summer leagues. Then, Tom Jones has given him exposure in the Summer League at Washington D.C.

Eastern High Technical School was an institute where he has attended his high school education. Then, he joined Archbishop Spalding High School because his parents were interested for his career and education more.

Then Rudy Gay played basketball for two years both in his junior and senior year. While maintaining his basketball career in high school, he was honored Washington Post All Met Basketball Player of the Year, McDonald’s All-American and Parade First Team All-American. There, he averaged 21.2 points per game, 9.2 rebounds and 3.7 blocks.

Rudy Gay has decided to join University of Connecticut. In the 2005 while having College times, Rudy Gay was awarded with the Big East Conference Freshman of the Year award. In 2005, Rudy Gay played in USA Men’s under 21 World Championship Team and he averaged 10.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. Gay was nominated for Big East Player of the Year. After this season, Rudy Gay was nominated for the Naismith College Player of the Year Award.

In the year 2006, on April 27th Rudy Gay has signed the 2006 NBA Draft. He was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies. Rudy Gay is still playing for Memphis Grizzlies. In 2007, Grizzlies performance took him to win the match with 22 games by averaging 10.8 points per game. In the second season of NBA, Rudy Gay has averaged 20.1 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game. Then, he became the team’s leading scorer.

In 2003-2004, he has averaged 21.2 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game and 3.7 blocks per game. Rudy Gay has played in the forward position. In the season 2004-2005, when he was UCONN Freshman, he has averaged 11.4 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game and 1.9 blocks per game. Then, in the UCONN sophomore season of 2005-2006, he has averaged 15.2 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game and 1.6 blocks per game.

Rudy Gay has also re-signed to play with the Memphis Grizzlies. He has signed the contract of worth $82 million for further five years from July 1, 2010.
