In the Magic Johnson Roundball Classic tournament, Lewis was named as the Most Valuable Player. He has also been selected as the National Player of the Year by the PARADE Magazine.

In his high school times, he was awarded with the titles; Gatorade Player of the Year, Texas Magazine Player of the Year and the Houston Chronicle Player of the Year.

Then, Rashard Lewis was given the opportunity to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Seattle SuperSonics has selected him in the 1998 NBA Draft. He was selected in the second round with the 32nd overall pick by the Seattle SuperSonics.

When he was playing basketball in Japan, he has made his career-high score of the 41 points. He had also made his 918th three-pointer in the first quarter of a game while playing against the Detroit Pistons.
