Omri Casspi Bio

Omri Casspi is the first Israeli native who is serving in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He has professionally played basketball in his native land too. Omri Casspi bears a height of six feet and nine inches and his listed weight is 225 pounds. Omri Casspi plays as a small forward in the basketball.

Omri Casspi was born on June 22, 1988 in Holon at Israel. Casspi has a nick name; ‘O.C.’ His birth place is Holon and he was raised in the Yavne. His parents name is Shimon and Ilana. Casspi has two siblings; one sister (Aviv) and one brother (Eitan).

Omri Casspi enjoys Italian food in cuisine and he prefers spending time with his family in leisure. Other than Basketball, Casspi enjoys playing tennis as a hobby.

At this time, he is nearly 23 years of age and he has started playing basketball from the times of childhood. When he was 13 years old, he used to represent his school in basketball games. Casspi has won a State Youth Championship in 2005. Casspi has also practiced basketball by joining two of the basketball clubs at Israel. He has played basketball in the Elitzur Yavne B.C. and Maccabi Rishon LeZion.

Casspi is professionally into sports from the year 2005 when he has joined Israel’s Junior National Team. In 2005, Casspi has participated in the European U18 Championships in Belgrade at Serbia. Casspi has averaged 14.0 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. He has joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in the year 2005 and played for them till the year 2006. Then, Casspi represented Hapoel Galil Elyon in the basketball from the year 2006 to 2007.

While playing for them, he succeeded in winning “Discovery of the Year” Award. Omri Casspi has once again joined Maccabi Tel Aviv from the year 2007 to 2009. In this tenure, Casspi has averaged 17.9 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game.

In the year 2007, when there held Nike Hoop Summit; Omri Casspi has averaged 14 points per game, two rebounds per game, two steals per game and one block par game. In the season 2008-09, Casspi was on fourth in ranking in FIBA Europe Young Men’s Player of the Year Award.

When Casspi has participated in the European U18 Championships, he has helped his team in averaging 21.4 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game.

In the year 2009, Omri Casspi got a chance to professionally join National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted by Sacramento Kings in 2009 NBA Draft. Casspi is still playing with this team and is performing well. He has won numerous awards and titles in the basketball associations of both the Israel and United States.

The initial year of his career was really bright as he has won Euroleague Champion, BSL State Cup, and BSL Champion. In the Year 2006 and 2009; Casspi was honored with the title of BSL Champion.

In the year 2008, He was announced as the BSL Sixth Man of the Year. In the year 2009, He has won the title of All BSL Team. When Casspi was playing for Sacramento Kings in the year 2010, he received the honor of NBA All-Star Rookie Team.
