Monta Ellis was born on October 26, 1985 in Jackson at Mississippi. He is brought up by his mother Rosa Ellis. She has raised her three boys by living with her parents. Even Monta is named after his grandfather; Montana. Monta Ellis is married and they are blessed with a little son back in the summers of the year 2009.
He has completed his High School studies from the Lanier High School which is situated at Jackson. Monta was fond of basketball playing to such an extent that he did not bother to pursue his college studies. To him playing basketball and carrying it as a career holds a primary importance than the studies in life.
From the times with the Lanier High School; Monta has started giving his career brighter phases. He has been honored with the four times selection of All-State Player in Mississippi. His team has won two of the Championships. He has also participated in the McDonald’s All-America Team.
Monta has also been declared as the Mr. Basketball of Mississippi State. He has averaged 38.4 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game, and 6.9 assists per game with 4.5 steals per game. Overall, during his stay at Lanier High School, he has averaged 28.7 points per game and has scored 4167 points in total.
Initially, Monta has started taking interest in basketball playing from his brother, Antwain. Later his proficiency in basketball has given him a chance to adopt it as a profession. It was the year 2005 when Monta Ellis was drafted by the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has been drafted in the 2005 NBA Draft.
Golden State Warriors have selected him and he was selected on the overall 40th pick in the second round. There, Monta Ellis has started making astonishing moves to enthrall the audience in the professional grounds.
Initially, on December 5, 2007; Monta was succeeded in making a 3-point shot against the Phoenix Suns. At that time Monta was leading in his Rookie Year.

Monta Ellis is also a philanthropist besides an athlete. He has raised an organization with the label of ME8 Foundation. This foundation has conducted the volunteer programs for the needy people around his hometown.
