Minnesota Timberwolves – 1999 to Present

In 1999, the Wolves acquired Wally Szczerbiak as the sixth overall pick in the draft.

With his addition and contribution and the leading of Kevin Garnett, they had their first 50-win season in the history of the franchise. They finished with 52-30 and resulted them to be the 3rd seed for the postseason. They lost to the Portland Trailblazers in 4 games.

The next season, Malik Sealy died in a car accident. That season, they signed Joe Smith but was voided by the NBA because the Wolves violated the proper procedure in contract signing. They were banned from getting draft picks in five drafts, but eventually reduced to three draft classes.

Despite the problems, they have made the playoffs with their 47-35 record. Again, the San Antonio Spurs, defeated the Wolves in the first round.

The Wolves started the next season with an expectation to have a more accomplishments as they added depth in their roster. With their 50-32 record of the season, they advanced in the playoffs but again had an early exit in the first round against the allas Mavericks.

In 2002-03, Kevin Garnett almost won the MVP voting with a terrific season of 23 points and 13.4 rebounds per game. The team finished the season with 51-31, as the 3rd place.

They advanced to the playoffs but lost again in the first round against the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2003-04 season with their deep lineup as they acquired Latrell Sprewell,the Timberwolves were at the top of their performance led by Garnett. They finished 58-24 record in the season and they are the top seed of the Western Conference.

They faced off against the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings and won over them in the first rounds of the postseason. Their playoff run ended against the Los Angeles Lakers. Kevin Garrnett won an MVP award this season.

The next season, in 2004-05, the Wolves has a 44-38 win-loss record, a game less to qualify for the postseason.

In th year 2007, The Wolves traded Kevin Garnett for Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Ryan Gomes, two first-round draft picks and cash considerations. In the 2007 NBA Draft, they acquired Corey Brewer and Chris Richard.

In 2008, the Wolves selected OJ Mayo but when the draft concluded, they traded Mayo, Antoine Walker, Greg Buckner and Marko Jaric in exchange for Kevin Love, Mike Miller, Jason Collins and Brian Cardinal, they finished the season with 24-58.Kevin Love emerged as one of the top young players today.

He established himself as a rebounding monster and double double generator. He also had some records like having a 30 point game with 30 rebound game. He became a star for the Minnesota Timberwolves, hoping that he could someday lead the team to another postseason run.
