When we think about excitement coming from the start off the 2010-2011 NBA season we think of perennial matchups. Ai its highest level, the sport of professional basketball revolves around these key matchups.

Steamy Tropics of Southbeach
The first match-up of the early NBA season comes way down south in the steamy tropics of Southbeach. This is where, in less than 48 hours from the date of this writing, two of the biggest names in all of professional basketball will mix it up in a knock down drag-out winner take all game between two very interesting teams and their respective players.
The Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat will attempt to answer many questions concerning not only the chances of each team in this very-early NBA season but recent acquisition moves and trades as well.
This early season match-up pits one of the most observed and spoken-of players since Michael Jordan, Lebron James. The opposing side features a host of players that will undoubtedly be asked to defend and score against King James and they include Paul Pierce and newly-acquired Shaquille O’Neal.
While both players from the Celtics will be guarding and scoring against James the entirety of this classic to be match-up is centered on Lebron and his play.
Big Three Miami Style
Lebron James will not be alone, although it seems that way presently, against the Beast from the East the Boston Celtics. He will have plenty of help in the form of Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosch.
This Heat Three will have to answer a load of preseason and well before questions about chemistry and sharing and passing the ball. As we all know the game of basketball is a team game and only teams that play not only good team ball but exceptional selfless team ball will win the East and possibly the NBA Championship in 2011.
World Championship Lakers
That takes care of the tip-off of the 2010-2011 NBA basketball season and it only gets better from that point on. With Kobe Bryant and the World Championship Lakers making numerous trips across the nation and accepting almost every team from the Eastern Conference at least once it will be a season to recall and for quite a long time.
The Lakers counter with Kobe as well as a host of worldly players from all across the globe. For starters there is Pau Gasol, the Lakers superstar international center from way of Memphis via Barcelona, Spain.
Gasol will be tested from a variety of NBA Western Conference centers including; Darko Milicic of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the ever-dangerous All-Star Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks. While there will be plenty of fireworks from the West most of the early stuff will come from the Eastern Conference.
