Marcus Camby

Marcus D. Camby, a power forwarded and center positioned played athlete is a player of basketball.

He is an American Professional Basketball player who is representing Portland Trail Blazers these days. Marcus D. Camby was born on March 22, 1974 in Hartford at Connecticut.

Camby has established his shining career and has secured many honors and awards. Marcus D. Camby has also played with many of the teams of NBA (National Basketball Association). Camby was admitted in Conard High School in West Hartford and used to play basketball in his school.

He has also participated in many of the basketball contests and has proved himself to be an efficient player in front of others. Camby has always earned fame with his enthralling performances in any court and in any game of basketball.

In his schools days, he has averaged27 points per game, 11 rebounds per game, 8 blocks per game and 8 assists per game. It was declared in his school days as the Gatorade’s Connecticut Player of the Year.

He has joined UMass Minutemen to accomplish his college studies. He has maintained various records in the basketball. He has hit 300 career blocked shots and was among top four college player at UMass.

He has also set 105 total rejections at NCAA being an NCAA Freshman. He was also included in the list of Atlanta’s 10 Freshman of the Year. His performance has contributed in leading the Minutemen Team to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

In the season 1995-96, Camby won the awards; John R. Wooden Award and Naismith College Player of the Year Award. It was his effort that UMass has reached to the number one ranking and also in NCAA Final Four. There, Camby has established a record of total 43 blocked shots in only 11 games. UMass have honored him by introducing him as the UMass Athletic Hall of Fame on September 10, 2010.

Camby received NBA draft in 1996 NBA Draft and has joined Toronto Raptors. He stayed there for two years. In this season; 14.8 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game and 2.1 blocks per game were averaged by the Marcus Camby. His stay with this team has honored him with the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Then, he joined New York Knicks and stayed there for four more years. In 1998-99 season, Marcus Camby had made it possible for New York Knicks to be among top 8th in the NBA Finals.

From 2002-2008, it was the tenure of Marcus Camby with the Denver Nuggets. In the season 2006-07, Marcus Camby was honored with the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. From the year 2008 to the year 2010, Camby was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers. Then, in 2010, Portland Trail Blazers have selected him to play in his team and pursue his career. Camby is still playing for them even today.
Throughout his career, Marcus Camby was honored with the NBA All Rookie First Team in 1997. Then he was twice selected as the All-Defensive Second Team in 2005 and 2006. He was also honored with the title NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2007 and 2008. In 2007, Camby has also received NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award.
