Kobe Bryant’s Divorce

Basketball players are not stones, so they also have feelings, just like any normal person.

They get mad, sad, happy, they fall in love and get heart broken once in a while.

But when they feel that they have aldready met the one that they want to spend the rest of their lives with, the get married. Which is, sometimes, not the best thing to do. Then, after a few years of marriage and bearing offsprings, they get divorced. Some basketball players are guilty of that. One of them is Kobe Bryant.

How they met

In November of 1999, Kobe Bean Bryant met Vanessa Lain in the Tha Eastsidaz music video “G’d Up” where Vanessa Lain was working as a backup dancer. Kobe Bryant was then working on his debut musical album, which by the way was never released. After they met, the two began dating and just after six months of dating they were engaged.

Her engagement ring is 7 carats in size and costs $100,000. Kobe Bryant was 21 years old then and Vanessa was just 17 years old and was still a senior highschool at Marina High School. Laila Laine, a very close cousing of Vanessa, said that there was no prenutpial agreement, and Vanessa said that Kobe Bryant loved her too much for one.

The Wedding

The wedding of the couple happened on the 18th day of April, 2001. They married at St. Edward Roman Catholic in Dana Point, California. Bryant’s parents, his two sister, other family members, long time advisor and agent Arn Tellem, and his Los Angeles Lakers teammates did no attend the Kobe Bryant-Vanessa Lain wedding. Bryant’s parents did not say anything about the decision about not going to their son’s wedding.

However, there were rumors that Bryant’s parents did not attend the wedding because they are against it and that they didn’t like the idea of Bryant marrying so young and espcially marrying a girl that is not African-American. The conflict between Bryant and his parents lasted for two years.

The Daughters

Vanessa gave birth to two beautiful baby girls. Their first daugther was born in January 19, 2003 and she was named Natalia Diamante Bryant. Unfortunately, in the spring of 2005, Vanessa had a miscarriage because of ectopic pregnancy. But still, God is good for he gave the couple another baby girl. In May 1, 2006 Vanessa gave birth to their second daughter, Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant.

The Divorce

After being charged with sexuall assault on July 18, 2003, Bryant admitted that he had been unfaithful. However, he plead innocent to charges of felony sexual assult. Since then, there were rumors that the relationship of the couple has been shaky. After Kobe’s accusation of rape, he gave Vanessa a $4 million diamond ring, and Vanessa accepted the ring, of course, and Kobe’s apology.

There were a lot of rumors about Kobe Bryant’s Divorce but there were no much reliable news about Kobe Bryant’s divorce. But in 2007, Media Take Out reported the Vanessa Lain and Kobe Bryant’s divorce. Meda Tako Out interviewed Kobe’s friend, and Kobe claimed that he is ready to put an end to his 6 year marriage, and that they have been trying to make things better, but the relationship was not just working out.

However, the couple are spotted together watching basketball games just this 2010. So, is the Kobe Bryant’s divorce with Vanessa true? All I know is that they have an on and off relationship.
