Josh Smith Bio

Josh Smith is an American native and a professional basketball player. He is playing as a figure of Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Being a new lad in the professional courts of basketball, Smith is progressing day by day and still he has marked his career with the honors. Josh Smith plays as a forward in the basketball.Josh Smith was born on December 5, 1985 in College Park at Georgia. His parents are Paulette and Pete Smith.

He has four siblings; one brother (Walter) and three sisters (Kasola, Phebe and Shanti). The interests and likings of Smith in personal life reveal his love for the family and relatives. Josh Smith is a married; his wife’s name is Alexandria. They have two kids; one daughter and one son.

Smith was enrolled in the John McEachern High School. When he was in his senior year, he has then joined Oak Hill Academy. Smith was not only considering his studies but he was mad for playing basketball. When he was playing for the Oak Hill Academy, he has enthralled everyone by playing as a consummate shot-blocker.

From there, it was revealed that Smith has many guts to prove him in the field of basketball. When it was 2003 summers, Josh Smith got a chance to participate in playing basketball in the Atlanta Celtics AAU team.

The Atlanta Hawks have selected him by drafting in the 2004 NBA Draft. When Smith was spending his Rookie year, he has won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in the year 2005. Day by day, his performance improved and he has averaged 2.25 blocks per game and was ranked seventh in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

When an NBA All-Star Weekend was spent, Smith had averaged 15 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game, 4.1 assists per game, and 3.1 blocks per game with one steal per game. Smith has helped in raising the status of Atlanta Hawks through the averages that he maintained.

In the season 2006-07 of the National Basketball Association, Smith has averaged 16.4 points per game, 8.6 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists per game, 1.4 steals per game and 2.9 blocks per game. He has also made 38 points against the Milwaukee Bucks by setting a record in his career.

When it was August 8, 2008; a pact was signed by Smith to play with the Memphis Grizzlies but soon Atlanta Hawks get agreed to keep him in their team by accepting the offer sheet. Josh Smith remained loyal and played basketball for them.

The year 2005 was a lucky one in his career as he has won the NBA All-Rookie First Team. In the same year, while participating in Slam Dunk Competition, Josh Smith has been awarded with the NBA Slam Dunk Champion. When it was 2010, Smith was honored with the All-Defensive Second Team.

Josh Smith’s nick name is J-Smoove. He loves to eat tilapia and yellow rice is his favorite food. He also likes watching movies and “Four Brothers” is his all time favorite movie. Smith has also invested his time and energy in the volunteering.

He arranges the fund raiser set up and help out the needy people. Even he has bought cards, gifts and toys for the unprivileged children.
