Derek Fisher Bio

Rarely, such instances strike someone’s life when an incredible personality interacts in an environment and take the thing smoothly if they have to lead.

A nice man with leadership qualities and traits of an ideal sportsman is Derek Fisher. He is a stunning player who has always enthralled the peers and spectators with his moves in the court. While playing with NBA as a player, now Fisher is handling the responsibilities of a President of NBA, which is a dream of every player.

Derek Fisher truly deserves to be at the status which he is currently having in his life. He is a legend in the form of a player indeed.

Derek Fisher is an American basketball player who renders his services for Los Angeles Lakers nowadays. He is a professional player of National Basketball Association (NBA) and is handling the issues and responsibilities of NBA being a President of Nation Basketball Players Association.

Derek Fisher was born on August 9, 1974 in Little Rock at Arkansas. He is a son of a retired military man, John Fisher. His mother Annette is a working woman at a bank. Fisher’s brother used to play basketball and there is a lot of contribution from Fisher’s father side in morally supporting him and mentally preparing him for this sport.

In his child hood, he used to watch players playing basketball in the court. His brother, Duane Washington is also into basketball playing and in no time Derek has also picked up the basketball and started practicing the tricks and tactics of basketball playing.

Fisher has joined Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School in Little Rock. He used to play basketball in his school times. Then, he has to complete his college studies and for this Fisher has joined University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

By keeping his studies on the row, Derek Fisher also used to play basketball there. While playing 112 games in the University, Fisher has averaged 12.4 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game and 4.2 assists per game. He has set a record in the university because of 399 free throws that he has made in his career. When he was in his senior years, Fisher was awarded as the Sunbelt Conference Player of the Year by averaging 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.

Derek Fisher has started his career with NBA in 2006 NBA Draft and was selected to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. Initially, he has spent the time from the year 10996 to 2004 with the Los Angeles Lakers and then he has joined Golden State Warriors. He has signed the contract with the Warriors as a free agent and has averaged 13.3 points per game in his career.

Then, it was a time when he was selected by the Utah Jazz in 2006-07. Fisher has played 82 games with them and has averaged 10.1 points per game, 3.3 assists per game and 1.01 steals per game. He has scored double figures 40 times in this season. Then, in 2007, Fisher has another second run with the Los Angeles Lakers and is still playing for them. In November 2006, Derek Fisher was elected by the players to be the President of NBA Players Association.
