Darko Milicic Bio

Darko Milicic, a young blood in the professional field of basketball is a Serbian native.

He is a professional basketball player of National Basketball Association (NBA) and is representing Minnesota Timberwolves during these days. He has also played for the Serbia and has improved his performance with the increasing days of his life in the basketball.

Darko Milicic was born on June 20, 1985 in Novi Sad, Serbia at Yugoslavia. He has started playing basketball from the childhood days and amazingly when he was only 14, he used to support his family. His father’s name is Milorad who was a police officer and his mother’s name is Zora.

His sister Tijana is also into sports and is a volleyball player. He has married his girlfriend whom he has a relationship till three years before marriage. They both got married on May 23, 2009.

They bear a son in their happy married life. Initially, at the start of his career, he used to play for the Serbia and was a member of Serbia and Montenegro National Team. There, he has joined Hemofarm Vrsac and has played with them from 2001-2003.While playing with them, Milicic has averaged 7.6 points in over 38 games.

In 2001, Milicic has won the European Cadet Championships when he was a member of Yugoslavian team.

His NBA career has started from 2001 when he was drafted in 2001 NBA Draft. He was selected by the Detroit Pistons. He was among the youngest player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and was also the youngest foreigner player.

Initially, his performance was not up to the mark of the coaches and experts. Often they have objections with the way he was pursuing his career in the NBA. Even, Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine have highlighted his lack of playing time in the basketball.

He used to play in the centre and power forward position and was seven feet tall. A young, energetic and handsome athlete has grabbed the skills of basketball playing later in the career. From 2006 to 2007, Orlando Magic has traded him. While playing with the Orlando Magic, he has averaged 13 points per game and 7 rebounds per game in only 32 games.

From there, he has driven his sports timely and became more proficient in playing.

It was July 12, 2007 when Milicic has signed a three year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies worth $21 million. Once he was playing against the Indiana Pacers in the December 26, 2008; when he got injured by breaking the knuckle of his right hand and then was taken off from the field till his recovery.

From 2009 to 2010, Darko Milicic has represented New York Knicks and has declared to leave up the basketball playing with the National Basketball Association.

Then, again he has joined the NBA by being traded with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Darko Milicic is still playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He was NBA Champion in the year 2004 and has also taken lead in the European Cadet Champion in 2001 and Under-20 World Champion in 2002. Darko though started with the unsatisfactory and poor performance has now turned the heads around by presenting his enthralling performances in the basketball.
