Damion James Bio

Damion Marquez Williams James is an American native and a professional basketball player of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He is commonly known as Damion James. He plays in a small forward position and is an active, vigilant and diligent player. Nowadays, James is playing for the New Jersey Nets. Damion James was born on October 7, 1987 in Hobbs at New Mexico. He is a son of Katrina Williams. He has attended Nacogdoches High School in Nacogdoches at Texas. Damion James has been a skillful player from the times of his school days. He has participated in the various inter school contests and tournaments.

When James was in his senior year at High School, he was honored as the Player of the Year for the state of Texas. He is among those who were 18th on the career so far. In the rebounding, James was third with 968 scores and 37 double-doubles. He has made 253 rebounding Which was the highest score in his career with the 253 rebounds.

He has averaged 10 points per games, eight rebounds per game and two assists per game with the 2 blocks in just 23 minutes in the EA Sports Roundball Classic.

This game was held in Chicago. While participating in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Class 4-A; Damion James has averaged 26 points per game, 15 rebounds per game, 8 assists per game and 6 blocks per game. James has helped his team to appear in the Region III Quarterfinals. James was named as the Co-player of the Week in Reebok ABCD Camp in the year 2005. When there held the USA Youth Development Festival in San Diego, his team has won the bronze medal.

James has joined the University of Oklahoma to play the college basketball. He was under the training of head coach Kelvin Sampson. His coach has transferred to the other university. Following his head coach, James has decided to join the University of Texas.

He has continued playing basketball here with the dedication even here. James has participated in the Big 12 Conference and has maintained the record in the rebounds and double-doubles. In the year 2009-10, James has won the honor of Third Team AP All-American.

In his college while playing in the freshman year, James has averaged 7.6 points and 7.2 rebounds by utilizing 25.9 minutes per contest. When he has joined the sophomore year, Damion James succeeded in averaging the 13.2 points and 10.5 rebounds. In his junior year, he participated and reached the second round of the 2009 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament. In playing the All-Big 12 Conference, James has averaged 15.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

James had intentions to be drafted by the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the first round. Since, June 13, 2009, when there was 2009 NBA Draft; James has not signed his deal with NBA as he wanted to have a first round draft-position. At last, in the year 2010, James was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks. He has been selected in the round one with the 24th overall pick.
