Antonio Mcdyess Bio

Quitman born athlete; though raised in a very strict command by his mother has emerged as a star in the field of basketball.

He is an American national and is a professional in the field of basketball. He is playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and is representing San Antonio Spurs these days. His complete name is Antonio Keithflen McDyess.

Antonio Keithflen McDyess was born on September 7, 1974 in Quitman at Mississippi. He was raised by his mother in the Quitman. Quitman is a small village of less population which is not known by many people. His mother Gloria McDyess used to work in the cafeteria of local junior high school.

She was a bread winner of their family and has raised all of the five children including Antonio McDyess. Gloria was very concerned about the whereabouts of their kids. She has always warned them to go near the Chickasawhay River. One day Antonio has disobeyed his mother by going to that river side with his friend.

He drowned into the river and was escaped on the next day by someone. Since his mother was worried initially but when she has got to know that he is home and safe now, then he was punished by his mother.

Time goes on and he has joined Quitman Consolidated High School. He always used to play games with his siblings. Sometimes they play football and sometimes they play basketball. Antonio McDyess was never an efficient and skillful player at the time of his high school studies comparatively to other professional players.

 

In his school, he used to play under the training of the coach Sammy Smith. He was unaware of even the basics of the tricks of the basketball and often says that I do not have any idea of what I am being told to do in playing basketball. In his sophomore year, his game polished more and then he has started giving better performances. At that time he has averaged 29 points per game.

When he has participated in the ABCD Camp in California; he has shown an enthralling performance and he was even appreciated by the James Green, a head coach at the University of Alabama. At the end of his school level, Antonio McDyess succeeded in averaging 25.8 points, 14.7 rebounds and 5.3 blocks.McDyess has joined University of Alabama to pursue his career in the education.

Now, he has become proficient in playing basketball and has started taking more interest in basketball. At the university, he has started participating in the tournaments of basketball and started to seriously opt this game as a profession for himself.

It was the hit by his luck when in 1995; Antonio McDyess was selected by the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the 1995 NBA Draft. In the NBA, Denver Nuggets have selected him and he has played with them from 1995 to 1997. Then, for a single year, Phoenix Suns have traded him.

He has joined Denver Nuggets again for further four years. Then, from 2002-2004, Antonio McDyess has been selected by the New York Knicks. Again, a single season based on one year was spent with the Phoenix Suns and then it was the turn for the Detroit Pistons to trade him for them in playing basketball. In July 8, 2009; Antonio McDyess has joined San Antonio Spurs and is still playing for them in the NBA.
Antonio McDyess has won a gold medal in Men’s Basketball at Sydney in the year 2000. In 1996, he was an NBA All-Rookie First Team. In 1999; McDyess was honored being All NBA Third Team and finally in 2001, he was awarded with the title NBA All-Star.
