Some National Team Players
Cenk Akyol is a Small Forward in the Turkish National Basketball Team. He was born in Kadıköy, İstanbul on April 16, 1987. Akyol is Efis Pilsen basketball player ever since he started his professional career in 2003.
Efis Pilsen is one of the strongest teams in Turkey. Akyol took part in their achievements having won the TBL Championship for two consecutive years (2003-04, 2004-05), Turkish Cup Champions in 2006 and 2007, and winning theTurkish Super Cup 2006 and 2010.
In 2007-2008 season of TBL, he was loaned by Galatasaray Café Crown and in 2009-10 season, he played with the Air Avellino in Italy. He returned to Efis Pilsen in 2010 and is a member of the team up to this date.He was drafted by the NBA’s Altanta Hawks as 59th overall in the 2nd round of 2005 NBA Draft.
Sinan Güler is another Turkish player in the Turkish national team. He was born November 8, 1983 and is the son of Necati Güler (a retired professional basketball player) and the younger brother of Muratcan Güler who is also a professional basketball player.
His skills in basketball definitely run thru his blood. He started his professional career in 2006, initially playing for Darüşşafaka S.K. until the end of season 2006-07. He then played for Beşiktaş Cola Turka in season 2007-08. He then played for and still playing for Efis Pilsen as Shooting Guard and Small Forward. Aside from the national team’s success in 2010 FIBA Championship, he was also a player of the national team when they won bronze medal in 2009 Mediterranean Games.
Barış Ermiş was born on January 3, 1985. He is a professional Turkish basketball player playing as Point guard for Bandırma Banvit. His professional career started in 2003. He debuted with Beşiktaş in 2003 and played for them until 2004.
He later on played for Efes Pilsen in season 2004-05 until season 2005-06. Türk Telekom was his next team in 2006-07. After that season, he played for Pınar Karşıyaka in the 2007-08 season of TBL then returned to Türk Telekom for season 2008-09. Bandirma Banvit then took Ermiş as player up to present.
Ömer Onan, bornin Mersin-Turkey on February 4, 1978, is a Shooting Guard for Fenerbahçe Ülker.
His professional career started in 1995 wherein he played for Efes Pilsen SK. He played for the said team until 2004 when he switched to Fenerbahçe SK in season 2004-05. He then briefly played for Ülkerspor in season 2005-06.
He returned to Fenerbahçe Ülker in 2006 and is still currently playing for them. Onan is a star player for every team he played with- the reason for being regularly chosen to be a player for the national team.
He was playing for the National Team when they became a finalist in 2001 EuroBasket and in their current success as the silver medallist in the FIBA Wold championship.
