St. Joseph’s College-Long Island Men’s Basketball 2010-2011

The St. Joseph’s College-Long Island Men’s Basketball Team was ranked 3rd in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region standings posted on February 28th.
The Golden Eagles finished the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 22-7. St. Joseph’s College faced New York University and fell 107-93.

The Golden Eagles’ Season

The Golden Eagles met a tough New York University in the first round of the ECAC Metro Championship Tournament. New York shot the lights out with a massive 75.9% in the first half and 60% for the game. Unfortunately this loss in an important game is not the first for St. Joseph’s as they also lost to Purchase in the Skyline Championship game.

The loss against Purchase put the Golden Eagles season in the hands of the selection committee as they waited to hear if they would get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. They did get the at-large bid but with a win they would’ve had an automatic berth into the tournament. Head Coach John Mateyko leads the Golden Eagles, but depends on Chris Jimenez and Olivier Laurent to be successful.
