Renowned Uruguayan Basketball Players

Uruguayan basketball players are known to have great skills and abilities in the said sport.

Nonetheless, they are indeed famous not only in the local basketball but also in the international arena. In the past, some basketball players are only know because of the fact that they were regarded as the Most Valuable Players, but nowadays, you will meet a lot of them, emerging with their certain skills like the “Best Rebounder”, the “Rookie of the Year” and the like.

Mauricio Aguiar

He was born on the 3rd of February in the year 1983 in Montevideo in Uruguay. He is a pure Uruguayan who started to play as a Professional Basketball Player in the Uruguay Basketball League last 2000.

He is now considered as a long time participant of the Uruguay National Basketball Team. He is now included in the team of Vanoli Sorensina, an Italian Team of the Serie A League.

His first years during the 2000 and 2003 were spent playing for the Uruguayan Team named Cordon Atletico. He played for three straight years for the team and later on became one of the players for the NBA Drafts in the year 2003. But due to some reasons, Aguiar went undrafted by the scouts.

He then was acquired and asked to move to Italy once again to pursue his basketball career with the team of Lauretana Biella for the Italian league but however he was seen to only have a little amount of playing time which averages for only 4.0 points and a not bad 8.0 rebounds in a game. That was recorded for the first season. But for the 2nd season of his stay with the team, he had a record of 5.3 points and 0.9 rebounds in every game.

Aguiar was in demand for the both countries of Uruguay and Italy that is why he kept on transferring for one team to another in both countries since the year 2006.

His game became more spectacular to watch out for because he was then able to record great stats like his pay for the basketball club which played for the Americas League in the years 2008 and 2009, his averages was 8.8 rebounds and of course a good 3 rebounds for every game he plays for the team.

Martin Acosta y Lara Diaz

He was born on the 25th of March, 1925 and he died on the 5th of January, 2005 at the age of 79. He was a famous basketball player during his time. He had played for the Uruguayan National Basketball Team which competed during the summer Olympics held in the year 1948 and also in the year 1952. He was included in the winning team of Uruguay in the year 1948 and they luckily got a good slot in the finals.

Acosta was known for his dedication for the team and his skills and ability was terrific as it jives to one another. He was a long time member of the Team of Uruguay which when appointed to play for the country can always bring bacon home like the bronze medal the team had in the year 1948.
