Pape Sy Bio

Pape Sy, a French-Senegalese basketball player was born on April 5, 1988 in Loudéac, France.

He is a member of the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA and is a versatile player, who can play as combo guard, and swingman. Pape Sy, who is 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m) tall and weigh 225 lb (102 kg) was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draf, by the Hawks as the 53rd overall pick. He spent five seasons with STB Le Havre of the Ligue Nationale de Basketball before being drafted to NAB.

While playing in France, Sy was selected by the University of Wyoming basketball coach. His older sister was also a professional basketball player in Europe. in 2005 Sy joined the French team STB Le Havre. During his last season with Le Havre in 2009-2010, he averaged 5.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in just over 14 minutes per game.

Pape Sy entered NAB as complete unknown entity, he worked really hard to show his talent and on September, 2010 he signed a three-year contract with the Hawks. In December, 2010 Sy was sent to the Utah Flash of the NBA Development League by the Hawks. Sy had his best game to date with the Flash, on January, 2011, notching 22 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist in 26 minutes.

It was announced on March, 2011, that Sy would return to the Hawks for the 2010-2011 season. His international career information includes that Sy took part in 2009 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship as a member of the ninth-place Team France squad, and averaged 2.0 points, 0.6 assists, 0.9 rebounds and 10.4 minutes in 8 games.
