Marco Belinelli Bio

Marco Stefano Belinelli an Italian professional basketball player was born on March 25, 1986 in San Giovanni in Persiceto.

His nickname is "Beli" he is considered to be one of Italy's greatest basketball talents. Belinelli began his playing career at Virtus Bologna. Currently he is playing with the New Orleans Hornets of the NBA.

He is 1.96 m (6 ft 5 in) tall and his weight is 200lb. In the 2007 NBA Draft Belinelli was selected 18th overall by the Golden State Warriors. He plays as a shooting guard.

Belinelli also played for Italy's Virtus Bologna and Fortitudo Bologna in the Italian Lega A and the Euroleague respectively before his NBA career. He has also played for the Italian national team. He won the Italian League in the series against Olimpia Milano at the age of just nineteen in 2005. Belinelli competed at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and scored 25 points against the United States national team.

Career history of Belinelli is that he played for Virtus Bologna (Italy) from 2001 to 2003, Fortitudo Bologna (Italy) from 2003 to 2007, Golden State Warriors from 2007 to 2009, Toronto Raptors from 2009 to 2010 and New Orleans Hornets from 2010 to present.

Belinelli was selected #18 in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. In his first New Orleans Hornets game he scored 37 points against the NBA Summer League. Belinelli finished his Summer League scoring an average of 22.8 points per game in 4 games with the Warriors.

His personal best is 27 points in a match the Warriors lost to Atlanta Hawks, On December 19, 2008. He played just 33 games for the Warriors in regular season and averaged just 7.3 minutes per game at 2.9 points per game.

In 2009, Belinelli was traded to the Toronto Raptors for Devean George. Belinelli played his first NBA game as a starter for Toronto in Feb 2010 against the Indiana Pacers. Belinelli is shooting just 23% from the field but with some improvement he shot 53% in Italy's top professional league, Serie A.

Belinelli enjoys hip-hop and house music, listing Jay-Z and Kanye West among his favorites. He spends his free time on the computer and playing video games. His personal website is www.belinelli. Belinelli has a personal chef from an Italian restaurant in San Francisco.

He wears size 13 shoes and during the NBA season he resides in San Francisco. According to a press release Beli has been fined $10,000 for his Flagrant Foul, Penalty Two.
