Luol Deng Bio

Luol Michael Deng was born on April 16, 1985 in Wau, Sudan. He is a Sudanese-British professional basketball player.

Deng is currently playing for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association and the Great Britain national basketball team. He plays the small forward position and is 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) tall and his listed weight 220 lb (100 kg).

Deng is a member of the Dinka ethnic group. Deng began his career at Brixton Basketball Club. He played in the European Junior Men's Qualifying Tournament, at the age of 13, averaging 40 points and 14 rebounds. He was named the MVP of the tournament. In the finals of the European Junior National Tournament, he led England and averaged 34 points and earned another MVP award.

Luol moved to the United States, at the age of 14 and played basketball at Blair Academy in New Jersey. At Blair Deng was named a Tri-Captain. Deng was considered the most promising high school senior in America. Parade Magazine and USA Today named him First Team All-America.

He decided to attend Duke University, after graduation. He appeared in 37 games and made 32 starts in one season at Duke. In the 2004 Final Four, he averaged 30.1 minutes and scored 15.1 points per game en route to a berth. In ACC history Luol is only the 10th freshman to lead all rookies in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentage.

Brief Career information of Luol indicates his college Duke, NBA Draft 2004 / Round: 1 / Pick: 7th overall Selected by the Phoenix Suns and his Pro career 2004–present. Some of his Career highlights and awards are NBA All-Rookie First Team (2005) and also NBA Sportsmanship Award (2007).

In the 2007-08 season, Luol played in 63 games, but still averaged 17.0 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. During 2008-09 season, Deng only played in 48 games due to injury. Luol played in 70 games during the 2009-10 season. Deng scored a new career-high 40 points, On November, 2010, hitting 14 of his 19 shots, along with 9 of 11 free throws.

On February 2011, Luol had a great performance and made 20 points, 10 rebounds, and hit a game winning 3 point shot with 16 seconds left on the clock.

Luol Deng officially agreed to a six-year deal with the Bulls, On July, 2008 and signed worth a guaranteed US$71 million. With incentives he could get up to US$80 million.
