Luke Harangody Bio

Luke Harangody is an American native and a professional basketball player.

He plays basketball in the National Basketball Association (NBA).Harangody is representing Cleveland Cavaliers nowadays and was selected by the Boston Celtics to play in the NBA. Harangody is out of those players who have marked their career with the innumerable achievements and awards.

Standing six feet and seven inches tall, Harangody plays in a forward position in the basketball. His listed weight is 251 pounds and his complete name is Lucas Cameron Harangody.Lucas Cameron Harangody was born on January 2, 1988 in Decatur at Illinois to Dave and Peg Harangody. He shares an athletic background from his family.

His father was a skilled football player who has also played in the 1979 Holiday Bowl. His older brother; Ty was also a footballer.

They both had started playing from the backyard of their home. They always started playing with passion and ended with aggression by dwelling in fights. This nature has enabled them to adopt competitive attire in their nature and then sports became the passion for both of them. Ty used to play football at Indiana; he has quit playing sports due to his injuries and then accomplished his studies afterwards.

Luke Harangody has started his basketball playing in a serious way from his high school times. He has joined Andrean High School. At that time, Harangody was the Top Player in the Northwest Indiana. HE succeeded in winning All-State recognition twice at Indiana in his school times.

He had averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds while playing basketball in those days.

Then the University of Notre Dame hit the life of Harangody for the accomplishment of his professional studies. He had continued playing and studying side by side in his college times. One can find remarkable performances by him in his college career and he has left no room in winning and maintaining an excellent career in basketball.

In his Freshman year, he was ranked fourth because of scoring 11.2 points per game and he was second by making 6.2 rebounds per game. In his free-throw percentage of 0.816, Harangody was on the third rank. At that time, Luke Harangody succeeded in making 22 points with 13 rebounds. These 22 points were his season highest score in the freshman year.

Then in his junior year, Harangody has averaged 23.2 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game in the initial times. He ended this season successfully by averaging 40 points per game and 22 rebounds per game. He was named as the Big East Player of the Year and won the victory of Second Team All-America by the Associated Press. In the season 2006-07, Harangody was announced as the First Team All-Big East too.

In his senior year, Harangody has averaged 21.8 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per game with free-throw percentage of 0.787 and field goal percentage of 0.481. Again, he was named as the First Team All-Big East in his senior year. He has also participated in the 2010 Summer League.

It was the year 2010 when Luke Harangody was drafted in the 2010 NBA Draft by the National Basketball Association (NBA). Boston Celtics have selected Harangody and he was selected in the second round with the 52nd overall pick. Then, Cleveland Cavaliers have traded him on February 24, 2011. In his NBA career, Harangody has scored 17 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
