Evan Turner Bio

Evan Marcel Turner is an American basketball player. He was born on October 27, 1988 in Chicago, Illinois.

Turner who is 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m)tall and weighing 205 lb (93 kg)is currently playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, and in the 2010 NBA draft was drafted 2nd overall. He wears No. 12 jersey, and is a versatile player who can play at point guard, shooting guard and small forward positions.

Turner’s early career is that he attended St. Joseph High School in Westchester, and was one of the top high school basketball players. He was selected as a member of the All-Big Ten Conference Tournament team. Turner also honored to became one of five Big Ten players to have been among the top ten in the conference in average points, rebounds, and assists in the same season.

Turner was selected by ESPN and FOX Sports to various 2009–10 preseason All-American teams. During his college play he averaged 27.1 minutes per game, 8.5 points per game, and 4.4 rebounds per game, as a freshman. On January 19, 2008 Turner recorded his first career double double at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Turner was named player of the week three times in December 8, 2008, February 2, 2009, and February 9, 2009, as a sophomore, during the 2008–09 Big Ten Conference men’s basketball season.

On March 10, Turner was chosen by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association for its 2008–09 Men’s Division I District V Team, based on voting from its national membership. ESPN chose both Kalin Lucas and Turner to its 2009–10 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season preseason second-team All-American list.

According to a media release on August, 2010 Turner had signed with Chinese apparel maker Li Ning Company Limited a multi-year endorsement contract. On April 2010, Turner held a press conference and announced that he would enter the 2010 NBA Draft, he was selected by NAB and he signed a 3-year deal worth an estimated $12 million.

Turner’s career information showed he played at college for Ohio State, his NBA Draft 2010 / Round: 1 / Pick: 2nd overall Selected by the Philadelphia 76ers. Important achievements and awards made by turner are, he won 2010 National Player of the Year (AP, FOX, NABC, Naismith, SN, USBWA-Robertson, Wooden), 2009–10 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, 2010 Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player and 2010 All-American first-team (AP, FOX, NABC, TSN, Wooden (10-man team), USBWA, YS).
